MIDHCO Holding began developing knowledge management in the early 1990s in collaboration with MTA. The implementation of knowledge management at MIDHCO began with a pilot project at the headquarters level and quickly developed into subsidiaries. With the rapid simultaneous development of mining activities, the implementation of large mining projects, and the exploitation of mining units, MIDHCO desperately needed maximum knowledge circulation and the accumulation of knowledge throughout its extensive organization to reduce errors and synergies. Therefore, knowledge management software should start in all these areas with appropriate processes.
In their first steps to structuring knowledge management, MTA developed knowledge management teams at the level of fourteen holding companies and provided different sets of knowledge management solutions for different types of these organizations. Finally, all those processes were integrated in KMTS in MIDHCO and introduced a new customized version of MTAShare.

In 2012, with the help of the District 10 Municipal IT Department of Tehran, the municipal knowledge management software of District 10 was launched. With the cooperation of MTA, the steps of recognition, identification of municipal knowledge fields, and defining knowledge processes were accomplished, and finally, knowledge management software was set up. Tehran’s District 10 Municipality is the first municipality in the country with this system and actively extracts and shares its employees' knowledge. Development of employees' public participation in organizational processes, development of learning at the employee level, avoidance of duplication, and reduction of costs are part of the results of launching this system
