MIDHCO Holding began developing knowledge management in the early 1990s in collaboration with MTA. The implementation of knowledge management at MIDHCO began with a pilot project at the headquarters level and quickly developed into subsidiaries. With the rapid simultaneous development of mining activities, the implementation of large mining projects, and the exploitation of mining units, MIDHCO desperately needed maximum knowledge circulation and the accumulation of knowledge throughout its extensive organization to reduce errors and synergies. Therefore, knowledge management should start in all these areas with appropriate solutions.
 In their first steps to structuring knowledge management, MTA developed knowledge management teams at the level of fourteen holding companies and provided different sets of knowledge management solutions for different types of these organizations. The following are just some of the solutions

Documenting project management experiences of projects and plans

This model of "knowledge broom of projects" started from Zarand coke factory and continued with Babak Iranian copper cathode and copper pipe factory, and now this method is applied to most large holding projects. With the republishing and reuse of these lessons learned, the growing trend of MIDHCO Holding has doubled in recent years. It should be noted that MIDHCO has the record of the highest mineral investment in the country in different years.

Documentation of expert lessons learned

MIDHCO is considered a treasure trove of the country's great mineral experts. In this regard, since the early nineties, documenting experts' experiences was formed with a coherent program. In a short time, documenting the experiences of many experts of this company has been operational and now continues with various and innovative methods. This solution has had a significant impact on the knowledge socialization of new forces and their training at the lowest cost and using the purest indigenous organizational experiences.

Development of knowledge management software 

MTAShare knowledge management software has been best implemented in MIDHCO since the early nineties and has held valuable records in the production and use of knowledge. With more than 2,000 members throughout the holding, from various technology levels to management, this system has a valuable treasure of more than 10,000 evaluated and applied knowledge. It has a knowledge document and an active Community of Practice, which is one of the assets of MIDHCO Holding. It should be noted that the record of more than 200,000 knowledge users in this system has created the return of approved investments of more than tens of billions of Tomans.

Development of an organizational culture of KM 

By defining a coherent structure of knowledge management and defining responsible teams at the level of its subsidiaries, as well as implementing one of the best motivational structures of knowledge management in the country, MIDHCO also publishes a unique culture of knowledge management by publishing knowledge management newsletters regularly. Undoubtedly, its source has been a valuable view of senior managers of the organization on knowledge.

MIDHCO; Transnational model for KM 

MIDHCO has already established a unique model of knowledge management that has excelled nationally and globally, including numerous MAKE and EFQM (4E) and KM4D awards. At the 2018 World Knowledge Week (WTO) Knowledge Week event, which the World Trade Organization Vice President attended, a representative of the United Nations, senior executives, and prominent professors of knowledge management, and the Swiss, Dutch, and Austrian Knowledge Management Associations attended. The two organizations were announced as the winners of the 2018 award by the scientific and technical committee members. 
MTA is proud to have created native solutions for Iranian knowledge management at the beginning and continuation of this brilliant path, together with the managers and knowledge-workers of the large MIDHCO Holding.

In 2012, with the help of the District 10 Municipal Education Department of Tehran, the municipal knowledge management system of District 10 was launched. With the cooperation of MTA, the steps of recognition, SWOTAnalysis, identification of municipal knowledge fields, and interviews with experts were performed, and finally, by installing knowledge management software, the District 10 municipal system was set up. Tehran’s District 10 Municipality is the first municipality in the country with this system and actively extracts and shares its employees' knowledge. Development of employees' public participation in organizational processes, development of learning at the employee level, avoidance of duplication, and reduction of costs are part of the results of launching this system.
