The path to establishing knowledge management: actions, achievements, and results
The project to establish knowledge management in Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company began in 1404. The focus was on recording lessons learned from the company's various projects in the fields of refineries, pipelines, and booster stations.
In this regard, the planning was carried out in such a way that first, attention was paid to international knowledge management models, the company's maturity level was identified, and a roadmap was developed based on that.
In this regard, knowledge facilitators were identified as the only group that is subject to general and specialized training so that these individuals, in addition to identifying and disseminating the knowledge management culture in organizational units, also participate in identifying key knowledge in projects that are also carried out in cooperation with foreign contractors.
Workshops on defining the concept of knowledge management, how to identify knowledge, principles of experience writing as initial topics and more specialized topics in line with knowledge gap assessment and project knowledge management have been held for these individuals.
Also, the installation and launch of the specialized knowledge management system MTAshare took place in one of the implementation phases, and now all company personnel and, with specific planning, contractor representatives have access to this system to share and apply experiences created during the organization's projects and processes.
